Installing glass tiles of paper-faced mosaic
Gary Piscopo
In the last edition, we are talking about creating your own paper with tiles to the mosaic glass. Today we'll go into detail how to install the tiles you have.
Installation Face Mosaic Tile Glass Paper takes a little patience and requires some attention to detail. Paper facing is typically used for glass tiles that have a certain level of transparency them, that if a mesh backing used it may show through the finished tile. The face of paper you can install tables, without support, so if you see through the tile will not see the underlying mesh. tile paper are also very popular because it is cheaper to manufacture than fiberglass, mesh back boxes, so that you can buy at a lower price. If you are good at paying attention to details and do not rush into your project, you will find that installing paper-faced tiles can be very rewarding.
The tools needed for install the paper face are the same as those used to install any other party. You may need to use a saw if you have curves that must be cut. This section of the window is very popular.
The requirements for support (the wall behind the tables) are the same as are the tiles. Be sure to choose an appropriate support depending on the environment in which you install the tiles. Use cement board for showers and areas of wetlands, green space with occasional tips for moisture, and drywall for areas where you are sure you will not receive moisture. If you use the back injury he is a danger of paintings in bulk next year on the road.
Due a pane of glass that has some transparency, you must use use a latex modified, the system of thin white to adhere the tiles. You can easily find what your local building materials stores. Let them know that you placement of glass tiles and thin give appropriate. (Just see for yourself who is white.) When you mix all thin, it is not perfectly white. The whole thin is more gray than white, so the label says white then you have the right color. You wake up and be much closer to white when dry.
Once you have collected your tools, prepared surface, scored a few reference lines, and blends together fine, you're ready to start laying tile. Follow these steps for the process programming.
1) Apply thin set using barbed end of your palette, holding the trowel at about 45 degrees the surface. The notches measured the amount of right to terminate leave the surface.
2) Using the flat side of your trowel lightly flatten the peaks and valleys remove all thin. This is so there is no empty space behind the tables, as shown by clear boxes and semi-transparent. Do not remove any of the thin film or move, because they measured the exact amount in step prev.
3) Set your first sheet of thin tiles on the board, making sure it meets the reference lines you created during the preparation. Press the tiles with the company, but the constant pressure. Apply sheets align adjacent tiles tiles with the first sheet. Be sure to adjust the spacing between the match of the space between the tiles. Get online and leave adequate space is essential to success project, so take your time to this point and make it look good.
4) Use a block of wood beat (a small piece of 2x4 wood or block any), even outside of the tile surface with light tapping with a hammer on the block cons. This ensures that there is no raised floor tiles and the finished surface is flat and smooth.
5) Apply the remaining sheets using the same process.
6) After 20 minutes, you need to remove the paper. With a damp sponge, moisten the paper in boxes. Keep the paper wet for about 10 minutes to dissolve the glue to paper the floor.
7) Remove paper gently from the tables. The document must be easy to remove if the glue is completely dissolved. When you remove the paper, pull himself ensure that no lift tiles.
Replace the tiles are chipped or cracked. Normally, you will find a pair of chips that must be replacement. Lift the tile chip with a screwdriver then apply a small amount of ending the backplate replacement (butter of music). Press firmly tile in place. Make sure the surface of the replacement part is still with the tables around him.
9) Allow the tile to cure at least 24 hours.
10) Clean the remaining glue on the tiles with a sponge, warm water and a nylon brush. Leave the room before proceeding to the next step.
11) You are now ready for jointing. You want to use a sand grout in a color that compliments the color of your tiles. I recommend using a similar color, but a lighter shade. (If you are unsure of the shade, it is better to err on the side of the lighter.) Using a rubber grout float, work the grout into the spaces between the tiles. Hold the trowel at about 45 degrees to the work surface grout into the spaces between tiles. For the final pass, using a diagonal scan - which ensures that spaces have to grout the tile surface.
12) Remove extra grout from the surface of the glass tiles with the rubber float, taking about 90 degrees to the surface and scrape in a diagonal path. Do not remove any of the grout between the tiles.
13) Let the grout set for about 20 minutes. You want the grout harden, but not cured. Gently wipe the surface of the glass tiles with a damp sponge. Again, be careful not to delete none of the grout between the tiles. Surface cleaning is much easier when the dough is not cured, if you wait 24 hours will be very difficult to clean. I want to emphasize that should be very soft to clean the surface, use a very light pressure and rinse the sponge frequently.
14) Allow the grout set for 24 hours after cleaning the remaining haze by polishing the tiles with a dry cloth. When you've completed the final cleaning, apply grout sealant according the manufacturer's instructions. The sealer will help protect the grout and extend the life of the project.
Voila! Although manufacturing and installation Paper mosaics face can be a lengthy process, the results are often surprising. You can be proud to show your new room. You friends and family will be very impressed!
