Almandine Garnet

Pyrope or Bohemian Garnet

The garnet family is large and varied, with members ranging from the common red almandite to the rare green tsavorite and demantoid. The garnets are differently colored minerals all with a common crystal structure and varying (but related) chemical compositions. Six common varieties of garnet are recognized based on their chemical composition. They are pyrope, almandine, spessartite, grossularite, uvarovite and andradite.

Pyrope Garnet is the most famous of the red garnets. Its dark, blood red color is distinctive and attractive, often resembling the color of ruby. It is often found inclusion free. The amazing brilliance of pyrope is caused by its high refraction index.

Pyrope is sometimes referred to as Bohemian garnet from its historical source in former Czechoslovakia. Pyrope was the European fashion stone of the 18th and 19th centuries. The hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale explains why these gemstones are so excellent to wear. Pyrope is quite sturdy and resistant to everyday wear and tear, and uncomplicated to work into jewelry. Due to its hardness and composition pyrope garnet comes in a variety of cuts and shapes. The deep red stone looks superb in gold settings. Large carat sizes are available at attractive prices. In ancient times it was believed that garnets illuminated the night and prevented the wearer from evil.

Pyrope is magnesium aluminum garnet by composition. Iron can substitute for the magnesium and become more like almandine, iron aluminum garnet. Pure pyrope and pure almandine are actually rare in nature and most specimens are a mixture of the two. The change in density from almandine (4.3) to pyrope (3.6) is the only good test to determine a specimen's likely identity.

Pyrope deposits are found in China, Madagascar, Myanmar, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and the United States. Deposits in the Czech Republic do still exist, but are of minor importance.

Unlike many gemstones, pyrope garnet is not enhanced by any sort of treatment.

Almandine Garnet

The semi-precious stone color: Brown

The deadline garnet gemstone comes from the Latin word "granatum" meaning pomegranate. This is because the seeds and pulp of the fruit is actually similar to the color garnet. garnet crystals are also similar to the shape and size of pomegranates.

Garnet is actually a group of minerals that have been used by many since the Bronze Age and as an abrasive stones valuable. They often come in red, however, are available in several colors that run the gamut.

The six common garnet species are essentially recognized according to their chemical composition. These species are almandine, pyrope, Spessartite, grossularia andradite (including tsavorite hessonite or cinnamon stone), and uvarovite. They consist of two series of solid solution. The first and second grossularia uvarovite andradite almandine Spessarite a compliment.

Garnets found in most colors including red, yellow, orange, green , Purple striae, brown, blue, black, pink and without. The rarest one is the blue garnet, discovered in Bekily, Madagascar in the 1990s. It can also be extracted in several areas of the United States, Turkey and Russia. This garnet can change your blue-green and purple in the day when they are under lamps filament. This effect is essentially the fact that the relatively high amount of vanadium. Some other types of garnets have the ability to change color too.

Garnet is the stone for people born in January. Some advantages include the overall power to regenerate the blood that help love to host and deliver value. It is also believed to be a stimulus to creativity.
