IS THE MINERAL AZURITE A COMPOUND?! HELP QUICK!?
I am doing a science project in school on the mineral Azurite, meaning "blue".
Is this mineral, Azurite, a compound?
if so, what are some of the elements in this compound?
If not, what is it?

kelcy has the chemical formula right...when she said that azurite is a soft mineral, she ment that the hardness of azurite is 3.5-4 on the hardness scale. it is also very brittle at times, but the cleavage is usually good in 2 directions.the crystals are monoclinic; usually in well formed equidimensional or tabular crystals...also radiating, botryoidal, incrusting, and earthy in formation. azurite is in good association with malachite. azurite is a secondary copper mineral and it develops in the zone of alteration in all types of hydrothermal replacement deposits--where it commonly occurs with malachite, limonite, and chalcopyrite. azurite is found most anywhere in the world, but the best azurite has been mined from tsumeb, south west africa. the copper deposits in arizona and utah are also very fine specimens along with the malachite that is found with it. basically, azurite is an ore of copper and a minor ornamental stone. it is a most beautiful stone.
